Sony presenteerde 39 jaar geleden de eerste Walkman, een draagbare cassetterecorder zonder luidsprekers. Het eerste model (TPS-L2) werd gelanceerd op 21 juni 1979. Voor Sony een grote uitvinding, in twintig jaar tijd verkocht Sony 186 miljoen Walkmans.
Cliff Richard deed een campagne voor Sony en maakte in 1981 een videoclip. Daarin luistert hij op rollerskates naar muziek op zijn nieuwe Walkman- cassettespeler. [Radiowereld.NL]
